Is it too late?
I may as well join the horde and list everything I got for Christmas.

-Diarrhea.

Yeah, that's about it.

It's time for a change.
InsaneKittyKat's days are numbered.

Starting with the the new year, I'll be using a new screen name. I've already reserved the account names. Sometime on the 31st, I'll make a post telling everyone what it will be. It will also be the last post I'll make on this journal.

Thank you, Facebook newsfeed.
I just couldn't live without seeing the same ASCII boat five times.

I knew there was a reason I don't frequent that site.

So, my brother calls. He needs to do some grocery shopping. On Christmas Eve. With no car. So without any heads up, I get to go pick him up and take him to the grocery store. We get in 12 minutes before they close. I try to hurry things along by going through his shopping list and grabbing things for him, but there's still a 45 minute wait in the checkout line. Oh well. Driving him home I reminded myself of all the times I was a car-less bum and needed a ride, and things didn't seem too bad.

Come home to find that while I was out, my mom ate the rest of my cupcake batter.

Nice.

Well, I just called St. Vinnie's. They'll be coming by December 14 to take my bedroom furniture.

Re: Maria, I know I told you that you could take my bed, but I'm really sorry. I have no way of getting it to you. I'm not extremely thrilled that I have to throw away 85% of my personal belongings, but c'est la vie.

Re: Ashley, would you care to take those two end tables of mine? I'm not too attached to anything else I'm giving away, but those are two pieces of furniture my parents have had since before I was born. Call me selfish; I don't like the idea of them belonging to someone else whom I don't know.

Anyway, here's a list of all the stuff I'm getting rid of:

Full size bed (This includes mattress, box spring, headboard and frame)
Dresser
Computer desk
Bookshelf
Two end tables

Seriously, I need to get rid of this stuff. If you want it, you can have it. Free. I'll even help you move it, I just need to get it out of the house by Dec 15. My car is pretty small, but it can move the bookshelf, end tables, and desk no problem (the desk is pretty easy to disassemble/reassemble.) It'll obviously take a couple trips. I'm not so sure about the dresser, though. There's a good chance I can put the back seat down and slide it in the trunk, then tie the trunk down with bungee cords. Whatever doesn't have a new home by the 14th will be going to Vinnie's.

Also, Maria, I have about two boxes of books. Want them?

Hmmm...
Thinking about my plans for the future.

Here's the short term.

Classes as they are lined up for next semester:

PY 403 Behavioral Assesment & Evalutation (Andronis)
Monday - Thursday
12:00pm - 12:50pm

SL 252 American Sign Language I (Bressette)
Monday
5:00pm - 8:30pm

EN 211B Narrative & Descriptive Writing (Dodson)
Monday - Thursday
3:00pm - 3:50pm

MU 142 Piano 4 (Redfern)
Monday & Wednesday
2:00pm - 2:50pm

That right there will put me at 14 credits. However, I'm also pondering adding:

PY 355 Abnormal Psychology (Pelton-Cooper)
Monday - Thursday
1:00pm - 1:50pm

Not that I absolutely need to take that last class by next semester, but it would be convenient. It's required anyway, and what if I won't have the opportunity to take it again without it conflicting with some other class? Taking it now seems like a convenient and obvious choice, but it would put me at 18 credits--I know I'll get stressed out, especially trying to work part time. Ugh. I have to take PY 403, no getting out of that. EN 211B I'll be (hopefully) taking with Lysa, along with SL 252. If we're both in those classes together, I know she'll kick my ass if I start slacking. SL 252 is something I just plain really want to take, and I'm almost 99% positive it'll apply towards my Human Services Minor. MU 142 is, again, intrinsically motivated. I figure if I don't push myself now with 18 credits, I'll still have to do it eventually sometime next year if I still want to graduate "on time" (I will be graduating May 2008, come hell or high water.) And pushing myself next year sounds like a bad idea, what with running out of time and all.

Oh! Here's something that really burns my biscuits. I'm taking CLASS OMITTED currently, as a web course (with Dr. X). Long story short, I took one of the quizzes earlier in the evening and got two questions "wrong". Checking back with what's printed in the text book (after all, it's a web course, all we have by which to go is the book), on the first "wrong" question; the "correct" answer and the text are in clear disagreement with each other. On the second question called into question, of the four available options, two are distinctly, unarguably correct. I got this question wrong because I apparently chose the less correct option.

What the Hell!?

Are professors actually allowed to do this? They can't possibly be allowed to do this! It's bullshit, no matter which way you slice it.

Oh, and this is not the first unpleasant experience I've had as a result of X's behavior, so admittedly I have a bias.

Begrudgingly, I have just now gone back and censored myself. I suppose it might be in everyone's best interest if kept it anonymous. For now.

Rather than talk to Dr. X directly, I'm contemplating going directly above his/her head and heading straight to the Dean of Students' Office. Has anyone out there have any experience in matters like this? Granted it's all because of two questions on a 20 question quiz, but I got a 70% when I rightfully deserved an 80%.

Anyway.

Here's the long term.

I've already made up my mind about moving back downstate once I graduate from Northern. I've also set my sights on attending Eastern Michigan University. Originally, I planned on going there for Grad school. I've investigated their departmental site and I like the looks of it. However, something else I've considered doing was going back for another Bachelor's degree. I would more than likely end up majoring in Biology with double minors in English and Theater. To me, that just sounds like a lot of fun. After spending part of this evening investigating Eastern's Biology, English and Communications/Theatre web sites, respectively, I feel like I'm leaning more toward that Psychology Graduate School. Another factor is that I feel inadequate. Not to sound like I'm whining/looking for attention, but after reading about Vernie's reaction to grad school, it scares the crap out of me. If someone like Vernie is getting stressed out; someone I consider vastly more intelligent than myself, then how the hell could I possibly expect to make it? My thoughts include, "What if after my second BS I no longer want to attempt grad school? What if I don't even get accepted?" Let's face it, my transcript as it is is speckled with Ws (I average about 1 per semester). Sure, it saves my GPA, but it also demonstrates I give up easily. I'm still contemplating dropping that web course, but I'll just have to take it again with the possibility of seeing Dr. X almost every day of the week---::shudder::. If I keep that course, however, I'll pass with a C if I'm lucky.

::sigh::

I don't know. I guess I should try and get some rest. Tomorrow's another long day, but at least there's DDR.

Ganked from Skippy
1. YOUR SPY NAME (middle name and current street name): David Hewitt

2. YOUR MOVIE STAR NAME (grandfather/mother on your dad's side and your favourite candy): Stan Taffy

3. YOUR RAP NAME (first initial of first name & first 3 or 4 letters of your last name): A Jen

4. YOUR GAMER TAG (a favourite colour, a favourite animal): GreenKitty

5. YOUR SOAP OPERA NAME (middle name, and city you were born in): David Ypsilanti

6. YOUR STAR WARS NAME (first three letters of your last name, last three letters of mother's maiden name, first three letters of your pet's name): Jen-Son-Max

7. JEDI NAME (middle name spelled backwards, your mom's maiden name): Divad Johnson

8. PORN STAR NAME (first pet's name, the street you grew up on): Maxine Village

9. SUPERHERO NAME ("The", favourite colour & automobile your dad drives): The Green Escort

10. YOUR ACTION HERO NAME (first name of the main character in the last film you watched, last food you ate): Seymour Burger

Normally I'm not one to avidly gank stuff like this, but I was going over them in my head and some of them were just too funny. I personally feel gypped about my porn star name, but you cannot deny "Stan Taffy" is just plain sexy.

Also, what the hell kind of Jedi name is Divad Johnson?

::SNORT!::
Oh God, this is the greatest thing I've seen all evening. I'm reading for my Psych Measurements class, when I came upon this sentence in the textbook:

"Various measures of adjustment, coping, and quality of life may be employed in research with a wide variety of populations ranging from middle-aged women who have just given birth to elderly men afflicted with debilitating medical conditions."

I got as far as the end of the underlined portion when I burst into uproarious laughter. It took me about seven tries before I could actually finish the sentence.

Wow; I *am* Vernie's protege.
I've been up all night baking. Baking. Baking baking baking. By the way, we're having a bake sale. 10:00am - 2:00pm outside Starbucks. You should come visit! We'll be there today and tomorrow, and on Thursday we'll be in Jamrich.

Here's a list of what I've made:

Yellow cupcakes with chocolate frosting & nonpareil sprinkles

Funfetti cupcakes with funfetti frosting, funfetti sprinkles, and I put little arrows on them with cake decorating stuff.

Two loaves of banana nut bread

Peanut butter cookies

Chocolate chip cookies

Lysa only made sugar cookies, but she painstakingly cut them out and decorated them like DDR arrows. They're all colorful and sexy.

COME BY AND DONATE. WE NEED METAL PADS.

WHAT!?
Why was I not informed of this sooner!?

Apparently, Pluto is no longer considered a planet.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Definition_of_planet

How can there only be 8 planets in the solar system!? Now how are we going to teach our children arbitrary mnemonics for learning them all? My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Nipples??

Wow, things are distinctly looking up.
Monetary crises has been abated. I managed to pay my mom's energy bill using my credit card, which is all but maxed out now. Some of my financial aid has gone through and now living will be more comfortable. Short of the apocalypse, it looks like Lysa will be back in school by next semester.

The Marquette Choral Society has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall next summer, so every last scrap of cash is going to that.

Birthday went well--best one I've had since I came to college. Went to Thai House, it was very yummy. Went to casino, I came out six bucks ahead.

Now I'm kinda tired. And speaking in broken sentences.

Night night.

Hey, remember that shameless whoring for birthday money?
Of course you do. You know, this one.

Well, now I'm begging. Even if it's just an additional $5 or $10, every little bit helps. I'll be a lot more stable once my financial aid goes through, but I no idea when that will happen. Until then, I'm getting rather desperate.

Here's a rundown of my sob story:

Once again, my mom is asking me for money. She says she'll try to pay me back, but honestly, she's helped my poor (and for a time, jobless) ass out so many times it's only right I try and give money in return. However, my last paycheck is already spent on phone bill, credit card, and car insurance. My mom, mean while, needs $160 to pay her electric bill by this Friday, the 15th, or her electricity is getting shut off and it's back to being reported to a collection agency. She declared bankruptcy approximately one year ago, and she's been really struggling to make ends meet. She got so far behind on paying DTE (the elec company, I'm getting tired of typing that again and again) that she was able to set up a payment plan where it incorporates her previous bills in her future ones. However, if she defaults on a payment, the plan is void and she's back to owing them the amount in full. In other words, if she can't cough up $160 by Friday, she'll have to cough up $500 immediately or else her energy is shut off. Any extra money anyone can spare I'm going to split between her and myself, just so on top of paying off bills we can also try and buy groceries.

Again, Tony's dead. (Tony's the name of our car.) Not that Lysa and I are any strangers to walking, but now it's just starting to suck. More for Lysa than myself. It's either bug our roommate for rides or use of her car, or walk. And walking home after a closing shift at Burger King can't be too fun, I'd imagine. If it's going to cost us an extraordinary amount of money to get him fixed, I'm seriously considering giving up on the car and looking for a new one. And no, Ashley, I won't buy the boat. It's just too unstable an investment right now.

Like I said, even if all one person can contribute is a couple bucks, a couple bucks from a bunch of people can add up real quick. Please, help make my birthday this year a wee bit less sucky.

Sincerely,
Alex Jennings
